Over the past few years, we've tried to make KEXP videos not only fun to watch but also instantly recognizable. But when artists and other guests visit our actual studio space and see the dark and starry walls, they almost always say, "Wow, this is much smaller than it looks!" Charming as it may be, the KEXP studio is indeed quite tiny, and when we try to record a band with any size - like, for instance, Seattle's own Rose Windows, with their six members rocking out - we face some serious challenges. This is one of the reasons why this year we are starting construction of our new home (that, and our current lease is up!). While we don't plan to lose any of the intimacy in how we capture these unique performances, we can't wait to have a bit more space to work with. In fact, we were so eager to get in there that on the day we officially broke ground to build our new home, we brought in Rose Windows and the Oxford, Mississippi, rockers Bass Drum of Death to perform live for attendees of our pre-construction open house. Whether you're blissed out or shredding an air guitar as you watch these videos, try to imagine both of these bands really letting their hair down in our renovated new space. And imagine yourself there, watching, as we're making space for you, and 74 of your friends, to witness the magic as it's created in our studio. Check out the videos now and learn how you can support KEXP and help us build our new home here.
