  • Best Coast will drop their new album California Nights on May 5. They've shared the lyric video for album track "Heaven Sent." This spring the band heads out on a North American tour, which will bring them to The Showbox on June 4. [CoS]

  • Surfer Blood released "I Can't Explain," the first official single from their upcoming album 1000 Palms. Described by frontman John Paul Pitts as "one of our most collaborative efforts to date," the track "tells the story of a romantic encounter on a New Year’s Eve past and build slowly with the rest of the song." 1000 Palms drops on May 12.   • Danish band Mew are back with their first release since 2009's No More Stories Are Told Today.... "Water Slides" is a bright new song from their forthcoming album +/- (out April 27). [Pitchfork]

  • Escape From Evil, the third album from Baltimore indie rockers Lower Dens, is out on March 31. Today they've unveiled "Ondine" an emotional number in which Jana Hunter regretfully pleads for a second chance. Her delivery of the lyric "I will treat you better" will stay with you long after the last note is played. [Stereogum]

  • Those lamenting the lost of The Funhouse in Seattle can rejoice. Owners Brian Foss and Bobby Kuckelburg have just announced a joint partnership with El Corazon (formerly Graceland and Off Ramp), which will allow the beloved punk club to operate in the current lounge area of El Corazon.
