  • Uncanny! DJ Kevin Cole's favorite band has written a song about his favorite grocery store: listen to a live version of The Replacements performing "Whole Foods Blues" at a recent show in Los Angeles. Frontman Paul Westerberg displays his usual wicked way with words, lamenting his journey to get a protein shake. The band say they'll return to the recording studio later this year after the tour wraps up to work on their first new album since 1990's All Shook Down. [Pitchfork]

  • London quintet Hot Chip's forthcoming full-length, Why Make Sense?, hits stores next month, but today they share the non-album track "Burning Up." The lullaby-like slow jam features some heavily-vocoded vocals over dreamy techno beats. "Burning Up" will appear on the pre-order-exclusive EP Separate, and Why Make Sense? hits stores on May 18th on Domino. [Stereogum]

  • No new album on the horizon yet, but UK band Elbow have shared a new track today for the soundtrack of the film, Man Up, starring Simon Pegg and Lake Bell. Stream the single "What Time Do You Call This" below. Director Ben Palmer says, "The band saw an early cut in Manchester and, thankfully, loved it. A couple of days later, Guy had already penned the lyrics and we were blown away. It was the perfect fit and a dream climax to the journey." The soundtrack to Man Up hits stores May 25th via Fiction Records. [Under the Radar]

  • Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie recorded a couple of acoustic versions of new songs for music-identifying app Shazam. (Who would need to use Shazam for Death Cab? That voice is unmistakable!) Accompanied by DCFC touring musician Zac Rae on piano, Gibbard gave an intimate take on the Kintsugi single “Black Sun,” and “Passenger Seat” from Transatlanticism. Watch below: [Spin]
