Who could forget that impassioned performance from Future Islands on the Late Show with David Letterman last year? (Watch it again here.) Letterman was so wow'ed, he brought the guys back last night where they performed their single "The Chase," just released the other week for Record Store Day. As always, frontman Samuel T. Seattle's own Tendai “Baba” Maraire (of Shabazz Palaces and Chimurenga Renaissance) has teamed up with West African collective Tal National. Hear his take on the track "Farila," from their album Zoy Zoy. Maraire says, "The cultural exchange between Chimurenga Renaissance and Tal National is proof of a musical force appreciated by many melomanes. A sound coming from a village to conquer the modern artistic world. The fact of having African and American origins contributed to a polychromic aspect enjoyed by music lovers around the globe." When Montreal artist Airick Woodhead (aka Doldrums) released the expanded edition of his Sub Pop release The Air Conditioned Nightmare, he included a 7" single featuring this track "IDONTWANNABEDELETED," featuring Blood Orange collaborator Samantha Urbani. [Pitchfork]

Southern rockers Alabama Shakes share the video for "Sound & Color," the title track from their sophomore release. The clip, directed by Mario Hugo, takes the actor on an out-of-this-world trip. Watch below: [Consequence of Sound]
