  • Yo La Tengo will release their latest album Stuff Like That There on August 28. The album will include covers of the Cure, Hank Williams, and others, as well as some reworkings of Yo La Tengo's own music. Today you can hear their cover of Special Pillow's "Automatic Doom" and an updated version of their track "Deeper Into Movies." [Pitchfork]

  • Florence and the Machine's highly anticipated How Big How Blue How Beautiful is out today. It took two years of writing to complete the since This new offering has big shoes to fill after 2011's Ceremonials album, but from what I've heard, it more than rises to the occasion.   • Pixies premiered a new acoustic song during a recent session with Rolling Stone. "Um Chagga Lagga" is so brand new that it hasn't even been recorded yet. The indie rock outfit is in the early stages of working on a new album and they're taking their time. According to frontman Black Francis, "we're trying to find our sound right now." [SPIN]

  • Tom Petty is putting together a collection of unreleased songs he wrote in the early 90s called Wildflowers - All the Rest. He's shared the first single, "Somewhere Under Heaven," which will be featured in the upcoming Entourage film. The album doesn't have a release date, but hopefully it's sooner rather than later.
