  • Despite keeping busy with Dinosaur Jr and Sebadoh, Lou Barlow managed to find time to record a new solo album. The latest, Brace the Wave, hits stores September 4th via Joyful Noise. In a press release, Barlow explains, "Having moved back to Massachusetts (after 17 years in Los Angeles), I recorded Brace The Wave in 6 days with Justin Pizzoferrato at Sonelab studios in Easthampton. Justin was the engineer for the 3 Dinosaur Jr ‘reunion’ LP’s. My ease with Justin meant I approached the sessions with focus and confidence." Check it out below: [Pitchfork]

  • Ryan Adams knows a little something about pain: back in May he broke a rib, but managed to continue with his tour. It's no wonder he payed tribute to Dave Grohl on stage at the Sydney Opera House last night. The Foo Fighters-frontman has also soldiered on despite a serious leg injury, which you can read about on the KEXP Blog here. Watch Adams tip his cap with a beautiful rendition of the Foo Fighters single "Times Like These" in this fan-shot video below. [Consequence of Sound]

  • Portland's own Blitzen Trapper share a new single today: stream the track "Lonesome Angel" below. The song will appear on the band's forthcoming full-length All Across This Land, out October 2nd via Vagrant Records. Frontman Eric Earley calls the release, "a little more of a live aggressive record. It’s probably the truest-sounding to our live show." [Stereogum]

  • Fresh off an FCC-unfriendly in-studio session on KEXP's Audioasis, Seattle's punk rock princesses Mommy Long Legs share the video for the track "Life Rips," the title track off their debut self-released EP. The clip, directed by Charlie Daugherty, features the Long Legs ladies in total party mode. Watch: [The Grey Estates]
