When asked how they deal with the stress of extensive touring, Yelle quips, "We are planking. Every day." Maybe we should be taking notes. Hailing from Brittany, France, electropop duo Yelle (Julie Budet) and Grandmarnier (Jean-François Perrier) have captured a wide following in recent years with fans from all around the globe. Though all their lyrics are in French, Yelle is a prime example of an act that can truly transcend language barriers. In collaborating with American producer Dr. Luke, their new album Complètement fou (which translates to "totally crazy," by the way) is a minor departure from their previous sound, but still sustains the same fizzy, unabashedly poppy charm Yelle is known for. The album art is simple, but striking -- just Yelle's face, drowning in a sea of blue popcorn. Describing their new record as "more intimate... colorful and strong," Yelle definitely isn't holding back now, delivering a totally galvanizing performance that would compel even the shyest of us to break out in dance. Which the band does, in the KEXP studio, showcasing some pretty fresh moves -- check them out for yourself:
