It's hard to believe, but LAKE are celebrating their tenth anniversary as a band this year. The charming Northwest outfit formed in Olympia, debuting at frontman Eli Moore's birthday party, and since then, have released eight full-lengths, four of those on legendary local label K Records. Over the decade, the line-up has shifted to and fro, but they've always continued to quietly refine their quirky songwriting craft. In an interview with Impose Magazine, founding member Ashley Eriksson explains their longevity, "The band is based around love, friendship, and not changing our band name."This Saturday, August 22nd, the band plan to "install" themselves in the historic Bayview Community Hall on beautiful Whidbey Island, where, for twelve hours straight, they'll perform every song they've ever written, album by album, in chronological order. Will their melodic voices hold out 'til the 2013 full-length The World is Real? If not, the audience is encouraged to sing and play along, and lyric books will be provided. All ages are welcome, and this event is free and open to the public. Music videos and archival footage will be projected on the walls of the community hall throughout their performance. Everyone is invited to take part in the potluck. It's sure to be a lovely celebration of a lovely band.
