Bombs Over Betty Photography

  • Brittany Howard, the powerhouse frontwoman of Alabama Shakes, has released a new album under the moniker Thunderbitch. The group, which has been around since 2012, includes members from the bands Clear Plastic Marks and Fly Golden Eagle. The album is a 10-track offering and is available to stream on their website and for purchase on iTunes. Watch the album trailer below. [CoS]

  • On Friday, Animal Collective will digitally drop a new live record called Live at 9:30. The aptly titled album was recorded on June 12, 2013, at precisely 9:30 pm in Washington DC. A hard copy of the album will be available here, as a limited edition. Below you can hear the live rendition of their 2005 track “Did You See the Words.” [Pitchfork]

  • Dubstep trio King Midas Sound have shared the video for their track “Lighthouse.” The video is a collection of layered images, like an animated collage, and was shot in New York, San Franscisco, and Hong Kong. The song is featured on the upcoming album, Edition 1 (out September 18), which is a collaboration with Austrian guitarist Fennesz. [Pitchfork]

  • Last night, Gary Clark Jr. stopped the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his upcoming album Story of Sonny Boy Slim (out September 11). Clark Jr., along with a duo of expressive backup singers, took the audience to church with his show stopping performance of the soulful “The Healing.” [SPIN]
