  • When Courtney Barnett sings about “Three Packs a Day,” she’s not talking about smoking. (I mean, c’mon. Haven’t you listened to the lyrics of “Avant Gardener“? She’s not that good at breathing in.) Instead, the brand-new single from the Australian singer/songwriter is an ode to ramen. While dietitians may disagree with the title, the track will appear on the compilation Good For You, out February 14th on Milk! Records. Listen to it below: [Consequence of Sound]

  • Not a lot of men in the video for the Neko Case track “Man”: just her, dancing along with a bunch of kids. The single from the 2013 album The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You gets the video treatment from director Austin Vesely, who captures Case in an array of colors and patterns, like an ’80s-era MTV video. • Austin-based post-rock group Explosions In The Sky return this Spring with a new full-length, titled The Wilderness — get a sneak peek with the single “Disintegration Anxiety” below. For the first time, they’re using an outside producer, bringing in Grammy Award winner John Congleton (the Grammy was for his work from another Texas-bred artist, St. Vincent). The Wilderness will be out April 1st on Temporary Residence. [Stereogum]

  • You haven’t heard the last of The Last Shadow Puppets. The side project of Miles Kane and Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner share a new track today, “Bad Habits,” along with the performance video below. No release date yet for the follow-up to their 2008 debut The Age of the Understatement, but it can’t be long: [Consequence of Sound]
