Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part of our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJ’s think you should hear. Today’s song, featured on the Morning Show with John Richards, is “Ya Ya Ya”, a recent single by You Won’t from the forthcoming album Revolutionaries, due April 29 on Extraneous Music LLC / Meddling Kids.

You Won’t – Ya Ya Ya (MP3)

Do you ever get the overwhelming urge to run away to a place where things are simpler? Where you don’t have to figure out whether or not liking Diplo makes you a douchebag? Or if wearing all black is trendy or goth? Enter Massachusetts band, You Won’t. Simple and melodic and organic sounding, the band packs a powerfully ear-pleasing punch. Simple guitar driven music, without being all… Ed Sheeran about it. You Won’t definitely don’t concern themselves with trying to be cool, as they don powdered wigs and purple santa hats in their newest music video, for “Ya Ya Ya”, today’s featured song, and the first single from their upcoming record. Revolutionaries has been two-and-a-half years in the making, but the band’s efforts were not fruitless and earned them opening slots for The Lumineers and The Joy Formidable.

You Won’t is known for their eclectic live performances, but unfortunately the pair don’t have any scheduled plans to come to Seattle just yet. They are touring the East Coast this Spring, following the release of Revolutionaries on due April 29, so hopefully they’ll head west after that. Look for updates on the band’s website and Facebook page. For now, watch their wigged video for “Ya Ya Ya”:
