  • Electropop pixie Grimes delivers another eye-popping video from her most recent full-length, Art Angels, out now on 4AD. Watch the clip for "California" directed by Grimes herself and her brother, Mac. Watch out for cameo appearances from Purity Ring's Megan James, HANA, Born Gold, model Eric Cheng, and Mac, too. • With a pedigree like this, how could it not be good? Former Seattleites, current South Caroliners Band of Horses share another new single from their upcoming LP Why Are You OK, out June 10th on Interscope/American Recordings. Check out the track "In a Drawer" below, featuring guest vocals from J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., Sera Cahoone, and Jenn Champion (formerly known as S, or Jenn Ghetto). Oh, and did we mention, the album is produced by Jason Lytle of Grandaddy? Star-studded. Stream below: [Under the Radar]

  • '90s indie-rock revivalists Speedy Ortiz return this summer with a four-track EP, Foiled Again, an "addendum" (their words) to last year's full-length Foil Deer. The EP features two remixes of "Puffer," plus two previously-unreleased tracks from the Foil Deer sessions, including the one you can stream below, "Death Note." Frontwoman Sadie Dupuis explains, "‘Death Note’ is named after the anime, which is about an evil supernatural notebook that causes the death of anyone whose name is written inside of it. The song is about writing through your depression as a way to get better, and how in that way a death note can be kind of love letter to yourself." Foiled Again will be released digitally on June 3rd via Carpark Records. [Consequence of Sound]

  • Thao & the Get Down Stay Down continue to tour in support of their latest A Man Alive, a deeply personal release where frontwoman Thao Nguyen delves into the absence of her father. After singing such heavy lyrics every night, a girl's gotta get her freak on, which is exactly what she's been doing in her encores, covering Missy Elliott 2001 hit "Get Ur Freak On." You'd be surprised how well it works! Watch fan-shot footage below, from this weekend's San Francisco stop at The Fillmore: [Stereogum]
