Kris Orlowski - Enough (MP3)

Kris Orlowski - one of Seattle’s eponymous, household folksters - graced us with his sophomore album earlier this month, and it’s hard to get enough of it. His immersive, rock sojourns are easy going, but driving, cheekily clashing with lyrics like “I wasn’t looking for the 9-to-5 or an easy ride on this long drive.” From playing rooftop shows at SXSW to his Beyoncé cover of "Halo" being picked up by Grey's Anatomy, Orlowski has been inoculating the local scene and national music circuits with his pure Americana serum for over half a decade. Like with his alt-country luminaries, his music explores the tapestries of life on the road, heartache, and longing using acoustic strokes and his palette of melodies to paint vistas like that in Paris, Texas. Moreover, like his colloquial contemporaries - Damien Jurado, The Lumineers, and The Head and the Heart - he knows how to capture his listeners with a dream-poppy, feel good rapture that perfects soaring harmonies so catchy you’ll find yourself singing along without even knowing. And if being one of Seattle’s salient singer-songwriter-turned-band-leader wasn’t enough, Kris is also the creative force behind Tower Sessions. These monthly sessions are intimate, Bazan-Living-Room-like shows he curates at the top of the iconic Smith Tower to “break the mold of usual music performance” - straight from the horse’s mouth - which provide a uniquely Seattle experience.

Kris Orlowski is currently gallivanting all over the Pacific Northwest from Victoria, BC, to Portland to Spokane in support of his new album. Don't miss him perform on in Seattle on June 11th at Tractor Tavern with Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music. Get tickets and more info on the 21+ show here, check out more music from Kris's new album on his website and Facebook, and watch a video for his 2014 title track "Believer" below.

Sasquatch! Music Festival 2016, Day 1: Telekinesis

Save for the jam band-heavy lineup of the festival's inaugural year – it's weird to think about now, but in the early 2000s, jam bands were as prominent at festivals as EDM is now – Sasquatch has long been an indie rock heavy festival, and even though this year's lineup is slightly less heavy on gu…
