Sasquatch! Music Festival 2016, Day 2: Major Lazer

The range of Major Lazer is vast and extensive. From an Adult Swim TV show, to the radio, to festivals worldwide, the group is quickly becoming a household name. Now a DJ Switch-less trio, the group has offered production to many of the radio’s top played songs (see “Lean On Me,” “Get Free”) yet they infiltrate popular sound not by conforming, but by setting the new standard. Much like the Disclosure the night prior, the group took the main stage at Sasquatch! Music Festival on Saturday to flex their grasp on pop-music and show their apt ability to craft beats infused with dancehall and reggae vibes while still appealing to popular opinion. After a somewhat strange introduction by John C. Reily posing as Dr. Steve Brule, they peppered their literally explosive set with top-40 remixes and armed with an assault of visual effects that included background dancers and bursts of flame. Shooting confetti cannons and throwing Major Lazer themed gifts to the crowd, the trio had the largest audience at Sasquatch yet dancing for the entirety of the set.
