Nashville band Diarrhea Planet get this week's gold star with their third LP, Turn To Gold. KEXP Music Director Don Yates notes the album "features a bigger, more polished sound for their hook-filled blend of punkish power-pop and epic hard rock, along with crisper, more sophisticated songs with monster guitar riffs, punchy rhythms, exuberant harmonies and fist-pumping song hooks."

Other highlights include the debut from Danish band Yung, "an impressive blend of anthemic post-punk and garage-rock reminiscent of The Replacements and Cloud Nothings, combining fuzzy, surging guitars, driving rhythms and potent song hooks." Swedish trio Peter Bjorn and John share their seventh full-length, "their most flashy and dance-oriented set to date, featuring a colorful, full-bodied sound with glittering synths, sleek guitars, propulsive rhythms, often-dark lyrics and catchy pop hooks."

The third album from L.A. artist Nite Jewel (aka Ramona Gonzalez) is "another fine set of dark electro-pop inflected with New Wave and R&B, combining a spacious, atmospheric sound with her plaintive vocals and intimate lyrics." Former Seattle-ites, current Charleston, South Carolina band Band of Horses release their fifth studio album, produced by Jason Lytle of Grandaddy. And the latest from Pittsburgh band The Gotobeds "is a strong set of bracing post-punk with angular guitars, driving rhythms, often-sardonic lyrics and potent song hooks."
