  • Over the weekend, elderly folks everywhere were introduced to well-tressed Philly rocker Kurt Vile as he was spotlighted on Saturday's CBS This Morning (a show whose key demographic tends to skew older). Watch Vile perform "I’m An Outlaw," "Dust Bunnies," and "Pretty Pimpin," as well as chat with host anchor Anthony Mason, below. If the choice of show seems odd, note that the latter track recently hit #1 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart.   • We're still getting used to the new name, but a new album should help it stick: Preoccupations (formerly Viet Cong) release their self-titled sophomore LP on September 16th via Jagjaguwar. Get a taste with a video for the first single, "Anxiety," below, directed by Yoonha Park. Frontman Matt Flegel says the song is about "changing as a band," something they've surely endured over the past year. Watch them perform under the old moniker in the KEXP studios here. [Spin]

  • Congratulations to Daveed Diggs of Sub Pop Records band clipping. whose work in the musical Hamilton won him Best Featured Actor In A Musical last night at the Tony Awards. It was just one of the 11 awards the musical racked up, winning in 16 of its nominated categories. Earlier this year, Diggs received the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album for his work on the soundtrack, which, as Stereogum points out, gets him two awards away from an EGOT.   • Nashville rockers Diarrhea Planet made their live television debut late last week on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
