Northwest artist/musician Geneviève Castrée lost her battle with pancreatic cancer this past Saturday. Castrée recorded music under the names Woelv and Ô Paon for local labels K, Marriage Records, and her spouse's label, P.W. Elverum & Sun. She was an accomplished artist, releasing her debut graphic novel, Susceptible, in 2013 with Drawn & Quarterly. Over the past decade, with her husband Phil Elverum of Mount Eerie and Microphones, she organized the music festivals What The Heck Fest and later the Anacortes Unknown Music Series. In the wake of a brutal week of shootings, My Morning Jacket have shared the anti-violence track "Magic Bullet," which you can stream below. Via their Soundcloud, the band say, "I don't pretend to think that a song can fix or change the world instantly, and I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of the political landscape and proper gun control legislation. But if we say nothing, then nothing will ever change. And things have got to change." [Stereogum]

Scottish trio CHVRCHES share a new animated clip for their track "Bury It" which features guest vocals from Paramore's Hayley Williams. Comic book artist Jamie McKelvie (Phonogram, The Wicked + The Divine) illustrates the band testing their telekinetic powers, which you can watch below. Band member Iain Cook said via a press release, "Ever since Jamie McKelvie began working with us on CHVRCHES poster designs, we have been discussing ways in which we could further our creative relationship," with McKelvie adding, "Music has always had a big influence on my work, and making a music video seemed like a natural progression of that." CHVRCHES will be in Seattle at the end of the month playing the Capitol Hill Block Party, and will be LIVE on KEXP Sunday, July 24th at 3:30 PM PT. Last night in Manchester, legendary local Johnny Marr joined The Last Shadow Puppets on stage for a cover of The Smiths' "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me."
