Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part of our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJ’s think you should hear. Today’s song, featured on the Afternoon Show with Kevin Cole, is “Neon Dad” by Holy Fuck from their 2016 album, Congrats, on Innovative Leisure.

Holy Fuck - Neon Dad (MP3)

In May, Canadian band Holy Fuck released their first album in six years. Subversive weirdo electronica has been Holy Fuck’s calling card, and their new release keeps with that aesthetic while graduating to a grown-up and polished delivery.  With eerily monotonous vocals and charmingly outdated electronics and unconventional instruments, Holy Fuck remain indiscernible, yet very listenable. Currently touring overseas, they just wrapped up a US tour that included a stop at KEXP!  Check out our in-studio recording of Holy Fuck playing “Neon Dad” below, and keep up with the band on their website, Facebook, and Twitter.
