  • It's been announced via Facebook that guitarist Dave Rosser has been diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer. Rosser has been a long-time member of all Greg Dulli's bands (The Afghan Whigs, The Twilight Singers, and Gutter Twins). The Afghan Whigs have scheduled benefit shows for December 10th in New Orleans with Mark Lanegan and Ani DiFranco, and December 14th in Los Angeles with Lanegan, Moby, and Carina Round. Via Facebook, Dulli writes, "Dave Rosser has been my close friend and bandmate for over a decade now. By doing these shows for him we hope to ease any financial stress he may face as he pursues treatment to combat his illness. 100% of the proceeds from these shows will go to his medical care. I’m hopeful that folks will come out and show their support for Dave who will be performing with us." Fans can also donate to Rosser’s GoFundMe page. [Spin]

Seattle's own David Bazan will release the album Dark Sacred Night on November 11th via Suicide Squeeze. Check out his version of "Silent Night" below. On Sunday, December 18th, Bazan brings what he calls "Christmas Miracle" to Nuemos. [Stereogum]

  • St. Louis band Foxing are stuck in California after a truck totaled it while they were on the side of the road. All members are okay, and determined to finish the tour. Catch them tomorrow night at The Crocodile with Balance & Composure and Mercury Girls. [Pitchfork]
