KEXP

It's the return of the KEXP Community Partnership Benefit Concerts! KEXP and the Seattle Foundation present an early evening for listeners to gather, hear awesome live local music, and support our Seattle non-profits. Join us tomorrow night, Thursday, November 17th, in the Gathering Space for this All Ages show with IG88, Maiah Manser, and JusMoni.

For a show this great, we're spotlighting not one, but two, of Seattle's local non-profits. Net proceeds will benefit The Washington Bus and Washington Low Income Housing Alliance. Washington Bus engages young people in the civic process through through education, civic participation, and hands-on democracy. The organization focuses their resources on empowering young people of color, LGBTQ youth, and first generation college students. They activate our generation through education, civic participation, and hands-on democracy, and work to put the young people most often excluded from the political process at its center. The Washington Low Income Housing Alliance works to ensure that all Washington residents have the opportunity to live in a safe, healthy, affordable home. Through advocacy, education, and organization, WLIHA hopes that "all Washington residents have the opportunity to live in safe, healthy, affordable homes in thriving communities." Starting things off is JusMoni, aka Mother Sister or Saffroniaa, or aka Moni Tep, a singer/songwriter/occasional beat maker who fuses art and activism into every song. JusMoni has collaborated with our city's own THEESatisfaction, as well as artists StarRo (Tokyo) and Mikos Da Gawd & Teeko & Mr. Carmack (San Francisco). Earlier this year, she self-released her sophomore solo LP JusMoni as Saffroniaa, featuring more of what she calls "Future/ Electronic/ Soul."

Also on the bill is Maiah Manser, whose new single "Second Skin" will be out November 18th via Freakout Records, with her debut EP out in early 2017. The track was produced by Frank Ocean collaborator Buddy Ross, mastered by Tom Coyne (Adele, Beyonce, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber), with string arrangements by Phillip Peterson (Cashmere Cat, Florence and The Machine, Santigold). At the center is multi-instrumentalist/powerhouse vocalist Manser whose unique voice has garnered her comparisions to artists like Kate Bush, Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs, Björk, and Adele. Watch her perform on local TV show, Art Zone with Nancy Guppy:

Headlining is producer Branden Clarke, better known as IG88. Having shared the stage with artists from Battles, Tycho, SZA and Odesza, he's developed into a dynamic performer, combining hip hop-inspired beats with his lush, atmospheric electronic music. On his latest album Hiding In My Hands, which came out back in February, guest vocals included JPM, CoMa, Jenni Potts, and hey, Maiah Manser! We predict a fantastic collaboration on the KEXP Gathering Space stage tomorrow night!

Tickets are on sale online here, and at the door. This show is All Ages and welcome to all.
