Despite being Black Friday, quite a slew of new albums hit the stores last week, including the highly anticipated third album from The Weeknd. It's a star-studded affair featuring guest appearances from Daft Punk, Lana Del Rey, Future, and Kendrick Lamar. Swedish psych rockers Dungen share their latest, inspired by their recent work on an original score to Lotte Reiniger’s 1926 film The Adventures of Prince Achmed. (It's said to be the oldest surviving full-length animated feature film in existence.) Beloved indie label Polyvinyl Records celebrate their 20th anniversary with a double-LP release (on teal/pink and teal/green, swoon) featuring artists from their roster covering other artists from their roster.

This week also sees the release of a Moderat live album, recorded in June of this year at a sold out show at Berlin’s Velodrome, the band’s largest hometown gig to date. Alt-country icon Gillian Welch digs through the attic for the 20th anniversary expanded release for her debut LP. The archival edition two-disc set collects outtakes, demos, and alternate takes culled from the Revival sessions. And following his passing in April, NPG Records and Warner Bros. Records team up for a 2-LP Prince collection, featuring all of his albums between 1978's For You and 1993's The Hits/The B-Sides, and the previously unreleased track "Moonbeam Levels."
