When they visited KEXP's old studios back in 2014, they had just released their debut, Haxel Princess. Both albums diligently demonstrate Cherry Glazerr's dark-and dreamy moods, Creevy's sarcasm, seriousness, and sass, plus personify the zeitgeist of L.A.'s surfacing young underground scene. They've got a grunge-savvy Pixies vibe dipped in the metallic elixir of Chastity Belt, Dilly Dally, and Deep Sea Diver.

When you hear a song like "Told You I'd Be With The Guys," or "Nurse Ratched" (also on Apocalipstick), and most of Cherry Glazerr's catalogue, the fuzzy stoner rock riffs act as the heartbeats sustaining the life of the song, which is then fleshed out with the dexterity of Tabor Allen on the drums and multi-instrumentalist Sasami Ashworth primarily on synth. Creevy's tackles a spectrum of post-teen fortitude, irony, and facetiousness in her lyrics ranging from songs about grilled cheese, making out in her room, emotional recovery, and feeling lonely. Creevy breaks her softer vocal tone several times throughout the song as she cries "I was a lone wolf / I thought I lost my pack" and the title line "Told You I'd Be With The Guys." Not only does the driving song start with some catchy noodling, but also has a well played delay-effected solo that leads into a head-banging coda to close out one of their great singles from the new album.

Cherry Glazerr will be on a U.S. tour through February 2017 and will be playing in Seattle on February 8th at The Crocodile. Check out where they'll be playing in your area via their website or Facebook page. And don't miss their other listen-worthy single "Nurse Rachet" from Apocalipstick in music video form below.
