Beloved New York dance-punks LCD Soundsystem have announced their first show of 2017: headlining the Forecastle Festival, taking place July 14-16 in Louisville, Kentucky. Also on the bill are Weezer, Odesza, PJ Harvey, Run the Jewels, to name just a few. Founder/frontman James Murphy announced earlier this year that the band had ended their 5-year-hiatus and were working on a new album. If you missed that announcement, check out Murphy's lengthy, candid open letter about it here, where he breaks it down: "here were our choices: 1. make music with your friends and call it something else, which seems hilarious (everteen) or egomaniacal to the point of sociopathic (james murphy solo record). 2. make music, but willfully exclude your friends because of the horrors in option 1. 3. make an lcd record with your friends, who want to make said record, and deal with whatever fall-out together. 4. don’t make music, to avoid the horrors of all of the above. 5. make music and, like, hide it somewhere. we decided, clearly, on option 3, and i was fully prepared for a certain amount of “oh fuck that guy” over-it stuff—in fact welcomed it." They're not the only ones making a reunion album: Canadian rockers Wolf Parade recently posted a pic on the band's Instagram with the exciting caption, "Guess who’s making a record!" The band reunited earlier this year after a similar 5-year-hiatus. Watch their Fall 2016 KEXP in-studio session below, and stay tuned for album details as they're announced. [Consequence of Sound]

From across the pond, UK greats Elbow have announced a new album, Little Fictions, out February 3rd via Concord. It'll be the band's first album without drummer and founding member Richard Jupp, and in a press release, they share it required them to take "new approaches to rhythm... utilizing percussive noises, sampling, and loops to build tracks." Check it out in the album's first single "Magnificent (She Says)" below. Elbow will be touring around their home in early 2017, but stay tuned for some US tour dates, sure to follow. Sad13, the solo project of Speedy Ortiz frontwoman Sadie Dupuis, shares a video/PSA for her track "Get a Yes." Director Isabel Farrington captures Dupuis and friends spelling out the rules of consent. In a press release, Dupuis elaborates, "I wanted to make a tribute to ’90s-style group dance videos, and my childhood friend Patsy Gay, who spends her days as a dance archivist, put together a sample reel of choreography using moves from Spice Girls, Aaliyah, Salt-N-Pepa, Janet Jackson, and Jordan Knight vids... plus Stephanie Tanner and Urkel. Isabel Farrington, who directed the video, styled it as a late-night TV infomercial about teaching the dos and don'ts of getting consent to dance with your partner. We filled the video with tons of our friends and shot it over a couple days at Silent Barn." Fun, and educational! [Pitchfork]
