  • Back in 2014, legendary shoegaze greats Slowdive reunited for a performance at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival. With their peers Ride and Lush both reuniting after two years and writing new music, it’s no surprise that Slowdive have done the same. Stream the track “Star Roving” below, their first new music in 22 years. Via a press release, frontman Neil Halstead says, “When the band decided to get back together in 2014, we really wanted to make new music. It’s taken us a whole load of shows and a few false starts to get to that point, but it’s with pride and a certain trepidation we unleash ‘Star Roving.’ It’s part of a bunch of new tracks we’ve been working on and it feels as fun, and as relevant playing together now as it did when we first started. We hope folks enjoy it.” And while there’s no release date nor title yet, Dead Oceans will be releasing their next LP. [ Consequence of Sound]

  • One of them has worked with James Mercer, the other has teamed up with David Bowie — and now Iggy Pop and Danger Mouse have pairing up with each other on the track “Gold” for the upcoming Matthew McConaughey movie of the same title. The song already received a Golden Globe nomination, but is now available to listen to online. The track was co-written with director Stephen Gaghan and composer Daniel Pemberton. • West coast band Foxygen share a track from their forthcoming full-length Hang, out January 20th via Jagjaguwar. Stream the single “On Lankershim” below, with songwriters Sam France and Jonathan Rado cruising in a convertible, classic California style. [ Stereogum]
