KEXP Presents: Community Partnership Benefit w/ Snuff Redux, Hoop, Swamp Meat

by McKenna Haley

KEXP and the Seattle Foundation present an early evening for listeners to gather, hear awesome live local music, and support our Seattle non-profits. Rachel’s Ginger Beer will be running a bar to serve up some drinks that remind you that sunny days are — indeed — ahead and Teen Tix members can score their $5 tickets at the door! Join us this Thursday, January 26th, in the Gathering Space for this All Ages, community-centered show with Snuff Redux, Hoop, and Swamp Meat.

We are spotlighting two of Seattle’s local non-profits focused on civic engagement. Net proceeds will benefit Latino Community Fund and Open Doors for Multicultural Families. Latino Community Fund’s vision is to create a vibrant and civically engaged Latino community in Washington through identifying, sharing and advocating for what is working in the Latino Community. They believe that healthy and educated Latino families build vibrant local communities and economies and to make sure that happens in Washington State, this organization invests in the Latino community to cultivate new leaders, support effective nonprofit organizations and improve the quality of life for all Washingtonians. Open Doors for Multicultural Families works to ensure that diverse families who have family members with developmental disabilities and special health care needs have equal access to culturally and linguistically appropriate information, resources, and services. They do this through educational programs for youth and families to ensure that they understand services that may be available to them! Both groups will be on-site in the KEXP Gathering Space during the show to tell you more about themselves. Please make sure you stop by their tables!

Starting things off is Swamp Meat, a Seattle band that makes ‘60s psychedelic garage rock that is a contemporary treat to listen to. With a new cassette to be released in February, they are excited to unveil new music that they have been working on. Check out a video for the song “Fancy Suits” below:

Hoop, the ever-poetic and eloquent dreamy rock crew, will be providing tunes in the middle of program. Their ability to create an alternate reality with their music is something we can all appreciate right now. Check out a live performance they had a few months ago:

Headlining the show is a local favorite, Snuff Redux! I hope that an awesome teen I met over the Summer before their KEXP set at Bumbershoot has heard about this show since SR is his favorite band, ever! Their energy, loud rock sounds and big hearts will close out the show on Thursday. I hope you’re ready to dance around couches while you balance cups of ginger beer in your hands! Check out their video for “Disintegrate The Days”:

Tickets are on sale online here, and at the door. This show is All Ages and welcome to all.
