Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part of our Song of the day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unrealeased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJ’s think you should hear. Today’s song, featured on the Morning Show with John Richards, is "Radiator Face" by Luxury Death from the 2017 EP Glue on PNKSLM.

Luxury Death - Radiator Face (MP3)Manchester duo Luxury Death craft lo-fi melodic music that treads the line between rock and pop and highlights the bittersweetness of life. After the death of Manchester group Nai Harvest, Ben Thomas (a Nai Harvest alum) and girlfriend Meg Williams formed the group. In the process, they immediately framed the fact that all things die in a pleasant light (their existence as a band came from the death of another), foreshadowing what their sound would do. Their music, which they themselves describe as being "influenced by knowing that one day you are going to die," certainly possesses a darkness both in texture and theme. Guitar riffs crackling with fuzz are found in every single the band has released, but they are balanced by the couple's vocal harmonies and synth melodies, which add a summery shade of optimism to the group's music. Today's featured song, "Radiator Face", is a prime example, as crunchy guitar riffs rip in and out of a melodic, accordion-inspired synth. The punchy chorus capitalizes on the spacious instrumentation and vocal chemistry of the duo, creating a hook that will surely only be forgotten in death.

Luxury Death doesn't have any U.S. shows announced at the moment, but keep an eye on their Facebook page and Bandcamp pages in case that changes. In the meantime, check out the official video for "Radiator Face" below:
