On Saturday, February 18th, musician Clyde Stubblefield passed away from kidney failure in his Madison, Wisconsin home. He was 73 years old. Stubblefield rose to prominence as the percussionist for the James Brown Band during the ’60s and ’70s. His improvised backbeat in the song "Funky Drummer" became one of the most sampled drumbeats in music history. It's been a while since we last heard from synthpop project Passion Pit, but last week, founding member and frontman Michael Angelakos launched The Wishart Group, an advocacy group dedicated to providing musicians with legal, educational, and health care services. Since the announce, he's been sharing new music left and right, including today's track "Hey K," which you can stream below. No word on where these songs will eventually land, but sounds to us like a new full-length will be out soon. [ Consequence of Sound ]

Putting aside her solo project Sad13 for a spell, Sadie Dupuis brings back Speedy Ortiz for the track "In My Way." The song is the latest contribution to the Our First 100 Days compilation of anti-Trump songs curated by the Secretly Group.
