On Thursday, March 2nd, KEXP presents Music Heals, a collaboration with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Proton Therapy Center dedicated to the power of music to lift our spirits and heal our souls in the face of cancer. From 6 AM to 6 PM, John Richards, Cheryl Waters, and Kevin Cole will tell the stories shared with us by members of our community and work in the songs that helped them through the healing process either emotionally or physically. Sadly, many of those songwriters themselves have been taken from us due to cancer. KEXP honors these artists; the list below, tragically, only scratches the surface of talented musicians who’ve succumbed to this horrible disease. If you’d like to share your own story and song choice with us, you can call 302-316-5397 or e-mail john@kexp.org.

I was inspired and touched with your Music heals cancer day. Being a newbee to all this cancer stuff is extremely overwhelming.

Sheryl and John quoted from or referred to a blog about cancer. The main one I’m looking for included a post about 7 things not to say to a cancer patient. It was SPOT ON! I’d like to put a link to it in my blog (website above).

If you could email me the blog I would be ever so grateful! Thanks for touching people’s lives through music!!!
