  • For International Womens Day, Swedish siblings First Aid Kit have shared a new song. Stream the single “You Are the Problem Here” below. Sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg explain they wrote the track, “after reading about yet another rape case where the perpetrator was handed a sentence which did not at all reflect the severity of his crime.” It’s a powerful track that you can purchase digitally starting Friday, March 10th; all proceeds will be donated to Women for Women International.   • A group of Montreal-based new-classical composers have just announced a tribute series to fellow Canuck, Grimes. Her breakthrough album Visions will be Chamber ensemble Plumes will assign each of the thirteen tracks to a different composer: Carmen Vanderveken, Veronica Charnley, Isaiah Ceccarelli, Giorgio Magnanensi, Nicole Lizée, Marielle Groven, Jennifer Bachynsky, Emilie LeBel, Fjóla Evans, Tawnie Olson, Stephanie Moore, Eliot Britton, and Monica Pearce. Performances kick off on March 10th across Canada, and according to Pitchfork, one of the performances may be streamed online. Stay tuned. [ Spin ]
  • Local ladies Chastity Belt have shared a new video today for “Different Now,” the new single from their upcoming album I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone, out June 2nd from Hardly Art. There’s Julia Shapiro wandering through the weeds instead of Eddie Vedder. There’s even the scene with everyone playing unplugged guitars on the beach.
