  • Earlier this year, lovable rocker Mac DeMarco announced a new album on the way titled This Old Dog. So, it only makes sense for him to perform the title track from a dog grooming parlor. “Though I may not be speaking about a real dog, this is what my press will probably look like for the next two years,” he says in the video. Like that’s a bad thing. Meet Tilly and Foxton below. This Old Dog will be out May 5th via Captured Tracks, and DeMarco plays the Moore Theatre on Sunday, September 10th. [ Pitchfork ]

  • Another new album on the horizon is the ninth studio LP from Spoon, titled Hot Thoughts. The guys stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night in support of the release; watch them perform the title track below. It was also recently reported that the guys are now a taco: stop by Veracruz All Natural in Austin, Texas and order the El Norteño, a fried egg (over hard), bacon, and red onions, topped with tortilla chips, poblano and red bell peppers, and Monterrey jack cheese; it’s available with either a flour or corn tortilla. All proceeds from El Norteño will be donated to nonprofit organization American Gateways, which aids Texas refugees and immigrants. Hot Thoughts is out March 17th via Matador, and you can keep track of all these late night television highlights with KEXP’s TV Eye. [ Under the Radar ]

  • Grammy-nominated Swedish band Little Dragon are back with their first new music since 2014’s Nabuma Rubberband. Titled Season High, the LP was produced by both the band and James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco. Check out an elaborate video for the track “Sweet” filmed in their hometown of Gothenburg. The band are playing Coachella later this Spring, but have yet to announce any Seattle dates. Stay tuned. Season High will be out April 14th via Loma Vista/Concord. [ Under the Radar ]

  • Last year’s passing of Merle Haggard struck his fans hard, including Don Slack, host of KEXP’s Swingin’ Doors, and Will Oldham who has called Haggard his “forever hero.” Oldham has announced that his next LP under the Bonnie “Prince” Billy moniker will be Best Troubador, a collection of Haggard covers. Hear his take on “Mama Tried” below. Oldham’s backing band for the album includes Emmett Kelly (of The Cairo Gang, Ty Segall’s band, and many other projects), Van Campbell, Nuala Kennedy, Danny Kiley, Drew Miller, Cheyenne Mize, Chris Rodahoffer, Mary Feiock, A.J. Roach, and Matt Sweeney. Best Troubador will be out May 5th via Drag City. [ Pitchfork ]
