KEXP at Trans Musicales: The Madcaps

This week, we continue sharing our discoveries from the Trans Musicales festival in Rennes, France, where last December we captured twelve exclusive sessions. We’re sharing with you one unique session each Friday, and you can watch all the previously released ones here. This week we present Rennes-based rock band The Madcaps.

DJ Morgan says of our experience with them:

The last band of the weekend was local four-piece, The Madcaps. Bastien Bruneau Larche (vocals, guitar & organ), Wenceslas Carrieu (bass & vocals), Léo Le Roux (drums), and Thomas Dahyot (guitar & vocals) all played an impressive set of 60s soul influenced rock a la The Kinks. The thing that really made them shine was their energy, especially from singer/guitarist Thomas Dahyot giving our camera crew quite the run around to keep up with his great energy and dance moves. It was a raucous, ripping set that was the perfect way to end our recording series.

Watch our live session below with The Madcaps, recorded at the stately Grand Salon de la Mairie de Rennes (city hall!), and be sure to find more about the band on their website and Facebook page. A few of the songs they played will be on their forthcoming third album, Slow Down, due March 31st on Howlin’ Banana Records.
