Tuxedo is the collaborative project between Michigan-raised, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/producer Mayer Hawthorne and veteran Seattle-based producer Jake One. Bonding over a shared love of early 1980s boogie, disco, funk, and R&B, the pair soon connected to create modern-day jams steeped in this rich, infectious, groovy sound. While the duo originally kept their creations relatively mysterious, Tuxedo eventually signed to revered California label Stones Throw, which has now released two stellar full-length Tuxedo albums. From both die-hard music junkies with deep record collections, this Tuxedo DJ set brilliantly sheds light on their influential favorites that inspired their fun, loose, party-starting collaboration.
