  • Beach House has shared the track "Chariot" off their upcoming album B-Sides and Rarities, a collection of 14 tracks that never made it onto any of their 6 previous albums. "Chariot" comes from the Depression Cherry and Thank Your Lucky Stars era; both albums were released in 2015 only months apart. In a press release, they explain, "When we announced that we were releasing a B-sides and rarities album, someone on Twitter asked, 'B-sides record? Why would Beach House put out a B-sides record? Their A-sides are like B-sides.' This random person has a point. Our goal has never been to make music that is explicitly commercial. Over the years, as we have worked on our 6 LPs, it wasn’t the ‘best’ or most catchy songs that made the records, just the ones that fit together to make a cohesive work. Accordingly, our B-sides are not songs that we didn’t like as much, just ones that didn’t have a place on the records we were making." They are currently on tour with no scheduled dates in Seattle. On Wednesday, July 6th, Neumos will host the experimental band for a night. We've got a taste of what that performance might entail from the just-released live video of them performing "3 O'CLOCK" in Amsterdam. [ Consequence of Sound ]

  • Critically-acclaimed Scottish band The Jesus and Mary Chain recently released Damage and Joy, their seventh album and first in 19 years, following 1998's Munki. In support of that, they visited The Late Show with Stepehen Colbert to perform the track "The Two Of Us" with Sky Ferreira, who is featured on the album but on a different track, "Black and Blues". Isobel Campbell appears on the studio version of "The Two of Us." Ferreira is set to appear in the upcoming Twin Peaks revival, which premieres Sunday, May 21st on Showtime. KEXP presents the band on Tuesday, May 23rd -- it was just announced this morning, the show is being moved to Showbox at the Market instead of Showbox SoDo. [ Rolling Stone ]

  • Beach Fossils are releasing a new album, Somersault, on June 2 via Bayonet. They've already shared a number of tracks from Somersault including "This Year," "Saint Ivy," and "Down the Line" and today they shared two more songs from the album, "Tangerine," which features the guest vocals of singer Rachel Goswell of Slowdive and "Social Jetlag." Beach Fossils will be playing The Crocodile on Tuesday, July 11th. [ Under the Radar ]
