  • Prolific singer-songwriter Ryan Adams paid homage to Chris Cornell at a show in Auckland, New Zealand this Saturday by covering Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.” The song is arguably Soundgarden’s most popular song, topping the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 1994, where it spent a total of seven weeks at number one. Ryan Adams will be in Seattle on Wednesday, June 28th at the Paramount Theatre. [ Spin ]

  • Speaking of Chris Cornell (not that we’ve stopped since his tragic death), it’s been announced that Cornell will be buried at the famed Hollywood Forever Cemetery and a private funeral will be held Friday. The Hollywood Forever Ceremony is the final resting spot for many old stars of Old Hollywood, including Rudolph Valentino, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Douglas Fairbanks, and Peter Lorre, as well as Johnny Ramone of The Ramones. In recent years, the cemetery has hosted regular concerts and film screenings. You may be familiar with it from the Father John Misty song “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings.” [ Consequence of Sound ]

  • Real Estate have a brand new video for the single “Stained Glass” from their recent release In Mind. Actually, technically there’s two. There’s an interactive version where you can color in the line drawings as the song plays, which is pretty fun. Or, if you’re more into watching than playing then there’s a version for you as well. Real Estate are currently touring Europe and were in town last month so if you missed that then it could be a minute until you can see them at home again. [ Stereogum ]

  • There’s no denying the similarities between the sonic sounds of Chromatics and the original soundtrack of Twin Peaks, composed by Angelo Badalementi and featuring Julee Cruise, so it’s a perfect fit for them to be featured in the revival of the iconic show. They performed their previously shared single “Shadow” during last night’s premiere of Showtime’s  Twin Peaks revival, performing the song in the show’s Roadhouse bar. Now they have shared a new video for “Shadow,” featuring the band performing the song in front of Twin Peaks‘ iconic red curtains. Grab a cup of strong black coffee and a slice of cherry pie while you watch this one. [ Under the Radar ]

  • Mac DeMarco is known for his strange stage antics (he once shoved his hand up his butt) but one could say he got a bit Stranger at a show this weekend in Atlanta when he brought Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard on stage to play guitar during his set. Wolfhard adeptly slays as fellow cast members of the hit show Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler) and Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers) look on and Joe Keery (Steve Harrington) stage dives. Wolfhard first shared his guitar skills last August with a cover of Nirvana’s “Lithium.” DeMarco will have a two-night appearance at the Moore on Sunday, September 10th and Monday, September 11th.
