  • In typical Arcade Fire fashion, the band has been teasing and hinting about their new album, Infinite Content, lately without flat out telling us what's up. It now appears the first single is "Everything Now" and some lucky fans have been able to get their hands on a 12" of the track at the band's merch table at Primavera. Tinny videos of the song being played on record players have quickly popped up but have also just as quickly been taken down. The single is allegedly pressed on orange vinyl and features an instrumental version on the B-side. The band is set to embark on a European tour following their Primavera performance. They recently debuted six new songs at a secret Montreal show. [ Pitchfork ]

  • King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have big plans for 2017, with the intention of releasing five albums in just this year. They got one under their belt last February with Flying Microtonal Banana and their second is planned to be released June 23rd and is called Murder of the Universe, which is split into three chapters. A video for one chapter "Han-Tyumi and the Murder of the Universe" was already released and now we've got "The Lord of Lightning vs. Balrog," a 14-minute chapter directed by Jason Galea and Ben Jones that features occult-type rituals and practices. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will be in Seattle on Tuesday, October 10th at the Neptune Theatre. [ Under the Radar ]
  • The recently reunited Broken Social Scene have released the third single off their forthcoming album, Hug of Thunder, their first new album in seven years. The single is called "Skyline" and follows their previous tracks, "Hug of Thunder" featuring Feist and "Halfway Home." Hug of Thunder will be released July 7th via City Slang/Arts & Crafts. They’ve also debuted the “Broken Playlist App for Spotify,” which according to a press release “creates dynamic, one-of-a-kind playlists of Broken Social Scene songs for whatever mood you want – from makeout music to beach days to road trip anthems and more” using songs from their catalogue. • Liam Gallagher of Oasis played his first-ever solo show last night at Manchester's 02 Ritz. In an effort to heal his hometown after the devastating terror attack outside the Manchester Arena, Gallagher donated all of the show's proceeds to victims. He also made sure to honor the memory of the 22 people who lost their lives in the attack throughout his show. Before he even took the stage, 22 candles were placed in front of his band’s drum kit. The audience chanted “Manchester la la la!” and “Stand up for the 22!” as Gallagher played Oasis favorites like “Morning Glory”, “D’You Know What I Mean?”, and “Be Here Now." But it wasn't all oldies, Gallagher debuted seven songs off his forthcoming solo album As You Were. They included titles like “Greedy Soul”, “Paper Crown”, “All I Need”, “Universal Gleam”, and “Wall of Glass” which is purportedly the album’s lead single. No North American tour dates have been announced yet. [ Consequence of Sound ]
  • Sadie Dupois has contributed an unreleased Speedy Ortiz demo to an upcoming benefit compilation called Evergreen whose proceeds will go towards Hour Children, an organization that aims “to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children successfully rejoin the community, reunify with their families, and build healthy, independent, and secure lives.” The track is called "Meat Of Contract" and dates from 2011, back when Speedy Ortiz was still a solo project. Other artists featured on the release include Hand Habits, Sammus, Fraternal Twin, Sitcom, La Neve (the side project of Downtown Boys’ Joey DeFrancesco), and more. Speedy Ortiz recently finished recording the follow-up to 2015’s Foil Deer in Omaha with Mike Mogis. [ Stereogum ]
