  • Broken Social Scene released their first album in seven years, Hug Of Thunder, a couple of weeks ago and now they've shared a video for the track "Vanity Pail Kids." BSS's Kevin Drew directed the rather strange video, which seems to be a commentary on the music industry via a toilet who's trying to become a star. Broken Social Scene is coming to Seattle on Monday, October 23 to play the Neptune. [ Under the Radar ]

  • English goth rock band The Horrors have a new video for the previously shared single "Machine," off their forthcoming fifth studio album, V. Directed by Jon Emmony, the dark video is based on the concept of computer simulation. Emmony explained in a statement, "The creatures, formed from sections cut and twisted from insects, crustaceans and bone are arranged in sculptural compositions inspired by artists such as Hieronymus Bosch; finding the surreal within mixed forms and scales. The movement for the creatures is powered through generated simulations – randomised numbers and splines are generated and the position of each creature along these splines are calculated; seemingly without reason but born from the choices of software."   • The National played day one of their two-day collaborative concert at Basilica Hudson in Hudson, New York yesterday. Called Guilty Party, the festival was named after their recently released single "Guilty Party," off the upcoming album Sleep Well Beast. For their concert they played the entirety of the new album, which means the audience got a sneak peek at songs never heard before. One song, "Born To Beg," was recorded for our listening pleasure. The National will play the Paramount on Wednesday, November 29. [ Billboard ]

  • Romance was in the air at Fleet Foxes' headlining set at Latitude Festival last night. The band brought a couple to the stage during their performance so that the guy, Jack, could propose to his girlfriend Molly (spoiler alert: she said yes). Jack and Molly also make music together under Jack and Molly. If you too would love to propose during a Fleet Foxes concert (although it wouldn't be incredibly original at this point), plan for their two-night stint at the Paramount on Thursday, September 14 and Friday, September 15.
