Beck has finally announced his follow-up to 2015's Grammy-winning Album of the Year, Morning Phase. Entitled Colors, he's had the album done for quite a while and has been teasing it for the last year, dropping the singles, "Wow," "Dreams," and "Up All Night." Beck said in a new interview, “I suppose the record could have come out a year or two ago. But these are complex songs all trying to do two or three things at once. It’s not retro and not modern. To get everything to sit together so it doesn’t sound like a huge mess was quite an undertaking.” There is no official release date or album info available yet. Beck will perform at Marymoor Park on Friday, August 25. [ Consequence of Sound ]

The Blow have taken an almost-uncoverable song, Whitney Houston's "Greatest Love Of All," and completely made it their own. You've definitely never heard the song this way before, with off-kilter rhythms, speak-singing, and heavy synth. The Blow have a new album coming out next month called Brand New Abyss, of which they've shared the tracks "Get Up" and "Think About Me." Don't miss the eclectic and beloved band when they play Neumos on Thursday, October 26 with EMA. [ Stereogum ]

There are two more weeks until Queens of the Stone Age release Villains and today they've given us another snippet of what to expect with the track, "The Evil Has Landed." It's a pummeling, fuzzy track that barrels right at you and proves that after two decades the band hasn't lost their edge. Villains was produced by Mark Ronson and will be released August 25 via Matador. [ Spin ]

Madrid four-piece Hinds haven't released much since their debut album, Leave Me Alone, which came out back in early 2016 but today they've shared a cover of the 1973 song by Kevin Ayers (of Soft Machine), "Caribbean Moon." The single is available via Mom + Pop and hopefully is a precursor to more original music from the group. [ Under the Radar ]
