  • Arcade Fire have been touring behind their latest album Everything Now, released earlier this summer. At some of those shows, including Lollapalooza, they've covered John Lennon's 1973 song "Mind Games." They've now done an official studio recording of the cover for the latest installment in the Spotify Singles series. The cover is relatively straightforward, with an added signature Arcade Fire anthemic touch. The band will play the Key Arena on Sunday, October 15 with Phantogram. [ Pitchfork ]
  • Local indie trio Dude York released their first LP for Hardly Art, Sincerely, back in February. Today they've shared the official video for lead single "Black Jack," which was our Song of the Day in December. Directed by Carlos Lopez, who previously directed their video for "Tonight," the clip focuses on guitarist/vocalist Peter Richards as his face is illuminated with a variety of vignettes. Watch Dude York's KEXP live in-studio performance or catch them at Barboza this Friday, September 22 with LVL Up and Turtlenecked. [ Stereogum ]
  • British experimental electronic producer Bibio is already following up last year's A Mineral Love with a new album called Phantom Brickworks due out in November. He's just dropped the lead single, "Phantom Brickworks III (Edit)," a beautiful ambient instrumental track, along with some lovely nature visuals. Stephen Wilkinson, aka Bibio, said this about the album: "Phantom Brickworks is a collection of mostly improvised musical pieces, that for some years now, have provided me with a mental portal into places and times - some real, some imaginary, some a combination of both." Phantom Brickworks is out November 3 via Warp. [ Under the Radar ]

  • Ezra Koenig revealed details on the fourth Vampire Weekend album to Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show yesterday. With the working title Mitsubishi Macchiato, Koenig revealed that the album is 80% done and involves a whole "cast of characters" including Ariel Rechstaid and BloodPop.“It’s getting there. I feel like it’s close to being done. There’s not too many other ways I can say it," he told Lowe. In the meantime, Koenig has a new anime Netflix series starring Jaden Smith and Jude Law premiering this Friday, called Neo Yokio. [ NME ]

  • New York indie-pop band The Pains of Being Pure At Heart just released their fourth album The Echo of Pleasure and today they unveiled the visuals for "So True," directed by Nicola Saint-Marc. Frontman Kip Berman came up with the narrative of two Norwegian women who seem to be friends despite their contrasting styles but, come to find out, they're actually the same person at different ages. Berman said of the video: “[…] it’s also ultimately from the perspective of how I am older, married with a daughter and incapable of chaining myself to an oil rig or passing out in the park because I have things I need to do and people to care for. I could never be ‘so true’ as all that.” KEXP is bringing The Pains of Being Pure At Heart to The Tractor Tavern this Saturday, September 23 with The Courtneys and The Prids. [ SPIN ]
