  • Toronto’s METZ recently released their latest album Strange Peace and now they’ve shared the video for lead single “Drained Lake.” The strange video, directed by Shayne Ehman, features a fanged woman who transforms into a black cat as well as forks and muffin tins coming to life. KEXP is bringing METZ to Seattle on Thursday, December 7 to play Neumos. [ SPIN ]

  • Danish pop singer  has surprise-released a new six-song EP called When I Was Young, her first record since 2014’s debut No Mythologies To Follow. She’s been teasing the album’s title track of social media the past few days but no mention of the release of an EP was mentioned. MØ aka Karen Marie Ørsted said of the release, “All of these songs are really personal, referring to the journey I’ve been on, specific situations and my state of mind through all this. It circles themes like coming of age, nostalgia and escaping from reality. I’m very, very excited to finally release more than just one song, and to finally be able to put out a little body of work to showcase the different moods and nuances of what I do — allowing myself to be playful, honest and a bit more vulnerable, which I think is a good creative space for me to float in.” [ Stereogum ]

  • Next month Sufjan Stevens is releasing a collection of Carrie & Lowell outtakes, remixes, and demos called The Greatest Gift. He’s already shared the unreleased song “Wallowa Lake Monster” and today he’s shared a sparse acoustic demo of “John My Beloved” apparently recorded on his iPhone. Carrie & Lowell was released in 2015 and followed up by his collaborative album with the National’s Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly, and drummer James McAlister called Planetarium. The Greatest Gift Mixtape – Outtakes, Remixes & Demos from Carrie & Lowell will be released November 24 via Asthmatic Kitty Records. [ Pitchfork ]
