Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings recorded one last album before Jones passed away due to pancreatic cancer last year. Entitled Soul Of A Woman, the album will be released November 17. Today the Dap-Kings shared the track "Call on God," a song Jones wrote in the '70s for E.I. Fields' Gospel Wonders and was recorded in 2007 for the Dap-Kings' 100 Days, 100 Nights but had been shelved for a planned album of gospel songs that never came to realization before Jones' death. The video accompanying the song comes from the 2007 recording session. [ Rolling Stone ]

Chicago's Twin Peaks are releasing their next album as a series of 7-inch singles, where every month they release two new songs on 7" vinyl and online. They only press 300 copies of each 7" but at the end of the year they're gathering up all the songs to be released as a full-album limited-edition 12-inch. For November they've shared the songs "With You" (side A) and "Just Because" (side B). They've also announced a February tour with Portugal. The Man but, unfortunately, does not include a Seattle date. [ Stereogum ]

A video featuring a new song from The Mountain Goats has been shared by Joyful Noise Recordings. The label's Almost Live membership series has bands come in and record a song in their office that is then cut to limited-edition vinyl. "From the Lake Trials" is The Mountain Goats' contribution. The sparse song and video focuses on John Darnielle on the piano, with the rest of the band gently filling the song out with saxophone and a drum machine. The Mountain Goats released their latest album Goths this year. [ SPIN ]

Thundercat was last night's musical guest on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and he got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up as Dragon Ball Z character Chiaotzu while performing "Them Changes" with Jon Batiste and Stay Human. He also sat in with the Late Show house band throughout the rest of the show to play bass. Thundercat's latest album Drunk was released last February via Brainfeeder. [ Paste ]

Adult Swim has enlisted a number of artists to cover the Squidbillies theme song and today we have Ty Segall's take. Previous artists that have taken the song on include Sharon Van Etten, Father John Misty, Bob Mould, and Steve Earle. Segall released the Fried Shallots EP this summer and a self-titled LP earlier this year. [ Pitchfork ]
