  • The National gave Brussels a treat last night by performing their beloved fourth studio album Boxer in its entirety for the first time ever. The band just wrapped up a European tour behind their latest album Sleep Well Beast, with Brussels as their final stop. Boxer celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year. The album has sold over 300,000 copies in the U.S. and debuted at #68 on the Billboard 200. The National are playing two nights at the Paramount on Tuesday, November 28 and Wednesday, November 29. • A new holiday ad has been released for UK department store John Lewis that features a cover of the Beatles’ “Golden Slumbers” from English band Elbow. The heartwarming commercial features a little boy and a monster that lives under the bed and was directed by Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry. Elbow’s take on “Golden Slumbers” will be included on a compilation album called The Best Of, out November 24. Elbow are playing in Seattle tonight, November 10 at the Showbox at the Market. • A new Elvis Costello song has emerged called “You Shouldn’t Look at Me That Way,” written specifically for the upcoming movie Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool. The film stars Annette Bening and Jamie and is based on Peter Turner’s memoir about his relationship with the actress Gloria Grahame in 1978. Costello released his memoir in 2015 and his last album was 2013’s Wise Up Ghost, a collaboration with the Roots. [ Pitchfork ]

  • St. Vincent has been hitting the TV circuit hard to promote her new album MASSEDUCTION. Her current set is perfect for all the American late night and European comedy shows, but how about the daytime mom-focused talk shows? It’s tough to say whether that’s really her “demographic” but Ellen apparently loves her and had her Emmy-winning daytime talk show yesterday to play “Los Ageless.” Surrounded by dancers in balaclavas and thigh-high boots, she was received surprisingly well, with Ellen herself singing along to the song (which is actually incredibly precious). St. Vincent will be stopping in Seattle for two nights during her MASSEDUCTION tour, Thursday, January 18 and Wednesday, January 19, both dates at the Moore. • The Beastie Boys have announced that they will be reissuing their final three albums, 2011’s Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, 2004’s To the 5 Boroughs, and 1996’s compilation The In Sound From Way Out! on vinyl. The 2007 instrumental album The Mix-Up will not be included. All three albums will be available in record stores on December 8 but you can preorder them now via the Beastie Boys’ official website.
