  • On the heels of his latest release, the Carrie & Lowell mixtape The Greatest Gift, Sufjan Stevens has shared a new song. Entitled “Tonya Harding,” the song is very literally about famed fallen professional skater Tonya Harding. Stevens made the song in two different keys, D major and Eb major, and has shared both on Bandcamp. The D major song comes with a video featuring footage of Harding skating. Stevens shared a lengthy essay about why he wrote the song, and it comes mostly from a place of respect and fascination. The song is not connected to the new film about Harding I, Tonya that is out this Friday. • Tune-Yards have shared the second single from their forthcoming album I can feel you creep into my private life called “ABC 123.” The politically charged song comes with a video from Dear Mr Quistgaard that features Merrill Garbus’ head popping out of different woodworking projects. The song follows lead single “Look At Your Hands.” I can feel you creep into my private life is the first Tune-Yards album since Nikki Nack in 2014 and will be released January 19 on 4AD. Tune-Yards are stopping by Seattle on Monday, February 26 to play the Showbox. [ Consequence of Sound ]

  • Nicolas Jaar is releasing an expanded edition of 2016’s Sirens this Friday. Today he’s shared an 8-minute bonus track off the album “Coin in Nine Hands.” Jaar stated on Twitter that “this deluxe version of the record is what it should have been all along but i got scared of ‘coin’ and decided against it at the last minute.. but then i started performing coin at every show… i couldn’t get it out of me..everything floats to the surface at some point..” The deluxe edition of Sirens is out December 8 on Other People.
