  • has previously revealed that he's working on a new solo album and today he's shared an interesting piece of music titled "Servings and Portions From My Boarding House Reach." The recording isn't exactly a proper single, but more of a collection sound bites and snippets from multiple different tracks on the album. It comes along with a bizarre video that follows the frenetic patterns of the track. It seems like perhaps the title of the new album may be "Boarding House Reach" but no official announcement has been made. The album will follow up 2014's Lazaretto. [ Paste ] Jack White
  • are gearing up to release a new album called Little Dark Age early next year. They've previously shared the title track and a video for it. Today they've shared the second single, "When You Die" along with a very macabre official video. The clip stars Alex Karpovsky (from Girls) as a struggling magician who goes on quite a trip. Little Dark Age is out in February and will follow up 2013's MGMT. [ Under the Radar ] MGMT

  • SZA's performance for Saturday Night Live, the R&B singer gave the audience at New York's Irving Plaza a special treat Monday night by bringing out Chance the Rapper to perform "Child's Play." The two originally collaborated on the song in 2014, before either was the superstar they are now, for SZA's EP Z. SZA's 2017 album Ctrl has made her the most-nominated female artist at the 2018 Grammys. [ The FADER ] On the heels of
  • Austra released Future Politics nearly a year ago but today they surprised us will a previously unreleased B-side from the album called "Change the Paradigm." The throbbing track would've fit well on the album and it sounds like frontwoman Katie Stelmanis regrets not putting it on there. "I wish Change the Paradigm had made it onto the record because it directly embodies what I wanted to express on Future Politics – that the most powerful tool we possess for creating a better world is our own imagination. Future Politics was written in a much different climate than what we have today. It’s been difficult to stay positive, but for me the possibility of what lies ahead is not only a weapon of potential, but a source of comfort and faith. We have to believe in the future and our own power to invent it now more than ever!" [ Stereogum ] Canadian synth-pop band
  • is following in the footsteps of Bob Mould, Ty Segall, Laura Jane Grace, and Steve Earl to cover the Squidbillies theme song. Malkmus didn't take the job lightly and spent some time trying to get it right. "It was fun to listen to all the different takes on the theme song available on the ‘net, and to decide what direction to take it. After several different takes with totally different chords and tempos, we decided to ‘bash it out’ in a loose, rock band style, keeping the same general chords progressions as the original." Malkmus' last album was 2014's Wig Out at Jagbags. [ Billboard ] Stephen Malkmus
