  • Only last year, legendary shoegaze band Ride released their first album in 21 years, Weather Diaries. Thankfully, we won't have to wait another 21 years for their next release. Today the band has announced a new EP entitled Tomorrow's Shore that will be dropping next month. It'll include the single "Pulsar" that was shared in November as well as a new single shared today called "Catch You Dreaming." According to Ride's Andy Bell, the song is "written from the perspective of being one of the last two people alive, watching as the Universe is ending. The protagonist looks back over the time when humanity existed, realizing that we as humans brought about our own inevitable demise. Then the couple looks back over their own lives of shared memories and as they are sharing this moment, everything vaporizes. It’s a love song about fate, nostalgia, and having no regrets." Tomorrow's Shore is out February 16. [ SPIN ]
  • The Breeders are back! After sharing a new song, "Wait In The Car," this past fall, the band has announced today that they'll be releasing their first new album in a decade this March. Called All Nerve, the album is the first in 25 years to feature the band's original lineup. They've also shared the album's title track and announced tour dates. All Nerve is out March 2 via 4AD and the Breeders will be in Seattle on Friday, April 13 to play Showbox SoDo. [ Under the Radar ]
  • A new Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings video has been unveiled today honoring the late Jones' legacy. The heartwarming video is for the song "Searching For A New Day," off the posthumous album Soul Of A Woman. The clip takes place at a listening party for the new album but focuses mainly on a little girl who is mesmerized while watching footage of Sharon Jones performing. Jones died following a battle with cancer at the age of 50 in November 2016. [ Stereogum ]
  • It's been 15 years since Nada Surf released their third album, Let Go, and the band is celebrating by going on a tour where they play the album in full. Today they announced that they'll also be releasing a tribute album called Standing At The Gates: The Songs Of Nada Surf's Let Go. The entire tracklist will be performed by Manchester Orchestra, The Long Winters, Rogue Wave, Charly Bliss, Aimee Mann, and more. Today they shared Ron Gallo's rootsy take on "Happy Kid." Standing At The Gates: The Songs Of Nada Surf’s Let Go is out digitally February 2 and physically March 2 with proceeds benefitting the ACLU and The Pablove Foundation. STG, Starbucks, and KEXP are bringing Nada Surf to the Neptune Theatre on Wednesday, May 9 for Little Big Show #21. [ Brooklyn Vegan ]
  • Last night, Ty Segall became the first-ever musical guest on Comedy Central's The Opposition with Jordan Klepper. He performed a solo-acoustic version of "My Lady's On Fire" off of the forthcoming album Freedom's Goblin as well as engaged in a short but rather funny interview with Klepper and participated in gags throughout the show. Segall made the theme music for the show so it was a fitting choice for a first musical performance. Freedom's Goblin is out February 26 on Drag City. [ Consequence of Sound ]
  • Superchunk have shared the second single off their upcoming album What a Time to Be Alive. Entitled "Erasure," the band tapped Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee and Stephen Merritt of the Magnetic Fields to join them on the track. The album will also feature guest features from David Bazan, Sabrina Ellis, and Skylar Gudasz. Frontman Mac McCaughan explained: "Part of [the reason the album features multiple collaborators] was wanting a feeling of community. I think that's important to not be completely bummed out about everything all the time." What A Time To Be Alive is out February 16 on Merge. Superchunk will be playing Neumos on Tuesday, February 27 with Bat Fangs. [ Rolling Stone ]
