Portland’s based Quasi has been rocking it since 1993, being one of their city’s most traditional bands, and also, leading to the release of their 10th record, American Gong. The band that brings the sound of indie and alternative rock, has gained great sucess in the United States and Europe thus Quasi’s eccentric music style, and the political subject matter in the lyrics.
The band remained as a two piece for over ten years until recently, where guitarist Coomes and drummer Weiss decided make bassist Bolme an official member of the band in 2007. Quasi although, has always been one of Portland’s most representative bands, and not only for their particular sound that revives the 90’s, but also for their direct their to criticizes and oppose to the US Goverment and war.
Sam Coomes, Janet Weiss and Joanna Bolme lined up for KEXP‘s live broadcasting at the 2010 edition of South by Southwest, showing their had strings, and performing “Black Dogs and Bubbles“, “Little White Horse“, “Repulsion“, “Rockabilly Party” and “Susbtitute“.
