Canada brings a mixture of indie rock and dance-punk with You Say Party! We Say Die! British Columbia’s now four piece was formed in 2003, and although there have been some changes in the line up through the years, the band has released five in studio albums, and is currently touring to support their 2009 XXXX.
The band emerged during the winter when Krista Loewen and Stephen O’Shea decided to jam some strings at Becky Ninkovic’s house back in the day. Ever since, they decided to pursue a musical career appearing for the first time in 2004 when they opened for Fun 100. The band gained attention for its unusual way to perform on stage as well as the venues they chose to, which not only put them on the spotlight, but led them to release their first EP in 2005, Danskwad.
The rock streaming and dance beat of You Say Party! We Say Die! was taken all the way to this year’s SXSW, performing for the KEXP‘s live broadcasting songs from their most recent material, “Dark Days“, “Downtown Mayors Goodnight“, “Glory“, “Laura Palmer’s Prom“, “Monster” and “There Is XXXX“.
