As I sit here listening to What Made Milwaukee Famous play live we’re getting close to the end of day 2… which was another GREAT day. Both Kevin and I rocked the Halloween Theme show. One of the best days to program music at KEXP! Check the archive if you missed it but man, it was fun. Nothing but in-studios and Halloween shows.

2 local bands started the day off, Head Like a Kite and Voyager One. HLAK show up in Superman outfits. I shit you not. They kept talking about them “bunching”. I was scared for my life. They have x-ray vision! Great set, nice moody eletro-rock… really enjoyed it.

Voyager One showed up in rock outfits. All black and badass. I’ve known that band for years and I don’t think they’ve EVER sounded as great as they did today. Man, that set made me happy. Made me proud of our local music scene.

The Apples in Stereo couldn’t make it in, we were sad. They were stuck in Baltimore. The man who is putting them out on his new label stopped by though, Elijah Wood, so we had him debut a bunch of songs and talk with Cheryl. We then hooked up his ipod and he dj’d the rest of the hour. He played some GREAT stuff and was very supportive of what we do at KEXP. He is a true music fan so it was great to have him on.

Okay, WMMF just finished, the crowd went wild and back to the Halloween tunes! Today’s podcast is the WMMF performance. It’s available now. Tomorrow we do this again with Plus/Minus, Canada, The Broken West, and 120 Days… can’t wait!

Here are Doron’s pictures from the first two days (Day 1, Day 2)
