We’re excited to announce the long-awaited return of the Own A Piece of KEXP campaign, which for the first time will be run as an auction. The Own a Piece of KEXP campaign began back in 2004 with the thought that it would be fun to “sell” annual sponsorship of items of tremendous importance to KEXP (the coffee pot, the DJ interview mic in the in-studio, the DJ booth, etc) all for a gift of support. The “buyer” would then have a physical presence in the station all year long with a sign propped next to their winnings and their name and photo on KEXP’s website.
With the return of the Own A Piece of KEXP campaign, we’ve decided to change it up and add a little fun competition to the mix by turning the campaign into an auction. So when the auction starts up on August 6th, head to KEXP.org to see what item you (or your dog) might want as your own. Perhaps it will be Kevin Cole’s glorious hair, or the Denon CD players which feed music out to thousands of listeners each and every day, or maybe it will be Leon’s “office,” better known as the men’s restroom. Nearly 30 items will be put up on the chopping block between Monday, August 6th and Friday, August 24th with new items going up everyday for the first week, so place a bid fast to stake your claim. All proceeds from the auction will go to support the programming you love on KEXP.
The auctions will run for three weeks, from August 6th to 24th with many auctions ending throughout the week of August 20th to 26th. Our auction winners will be recognized as station sponsors with their name posted next to their item at KEXP and on the website for the next year.
