Video Roundup: KEXP VMAs

Who needs the high school drama of the MTV Video Music Awards (temper tantrums, fist fights, apathy, etc.), when you can turn off the TV and turn on the ‘Tube? Despite warnings that the video industry is in jeopardy because consumers aren’t supporting the bloated walrus that is the major label marketing machine, music videos are thriving on the ‘net and are one of the best ways for bands to get their music out to a wider audience. Each week on the KEXP Blog, we present new videos (and a few old ones) that would never be shown alongside Justin Timberlake or Rihanna. This week, we present a few very recent videos for our own awards and let you decide the winners:
Best use of cut-out animation:
Múm - They Made Frogs Smoke Til They Exploded
They Might Be Giants - The Shadow Government
Best Impromptu Vocals by a Drama Major:
Beirut - Nantes (La Blogotheque)
Patrick Wolf - Black is the Colour & Back to Black
Best Use of Band as Cast in a Kinda Retro Looking Video:
Office - Oh My God
Noah and the Whale - 5 Years Time
