by Black Nite Crash from the 2008 album Array on Custom Made.
Seattle’s Black Nite Crash has been around since 2002 but only recently released their debut album, Array. Apparently the album itself has been in a holding pattern for some time due to personnel changes in the band. In fact, the entire rhythm section is more or less brand new, now consisting of bassist Jaime Clapper, drummer Randall Morgan and keyboardist Heather Taylor. Regardless of all the changes, BNC has forged ahead and is set to take on the East Coast in October. Soundwise, the origin of BNCs name should tip off most folks — Black Nite Crash was originally the name of a single by British shoegazers Ride. The band has successfully taken cues from their predecessors and injected a greater pop influence. Guitarists Jim Biggs and Joel Bergstrom concoct plenty of fuzzed out noise, but in the end the band is sure to let their melodies shine through. If you’re a bit shy around the shoegaze, BNC is the gateway drug you’ve been waiting for. Besides the upcoming East Coast tour, listeners can check these guys out 9/6 at the High Dive or listen in 10/15 when they grace the KEXP studio.

Beautiful band! Just saw them at the High Dive in Fremont. They played a powerful, emotional and magical set that made me feel extremely lucky to see them before they become super relevant. Randal swings it like he should, no more no less. The girls in the band melted my heart and the guitar work was thick, open and intriguing. This band is definitely going places ;)

Array has been on heavy rotation with me since late ‘08, when a friend gave me a copy of the Psychedelica Compilation that has Falling Down & thus turned me on to Black Nite Crash. I immediately bought Array & the rest is history. Revelator? One of the best songs ever.
